Boosting self-control by reframing choices

A study suggests that cognitively reframing the consequences of immediate gratification can increase self-control without requiring additional willpower. Eran Magen, Carol S. Dweck, and colleagues evaluated behavioral and neurological responses to cognitive reframing of a choice between small immediate monetary rewards and delayed monetary rewards, which were larger than immediate rewards.
