Using a meta-analytical technique called harmonization, a study finds that prior estimates of life cycle greenhouse gas emissions from electricity generated from shale gas, considering supply chain leakage of 1-6%, are similar to those from conventionally produced natural gas, and that both energy sources emit approximately half the greenhouse gas emissions tied to coal-powered electricity.
