We have proposed a new concept-perpendicular magnetic island clusters with configurable domain structure (multi flux stages) via dipole-dipole interactions. Their flux stage can be switched through external magnetic field. The concept has been successfully demonstrated by patterned Co/Pd islands. Our result opens a new insight of the understanding of the magnetic phenomenon in multi-functionality of magnetic island clusters and it is certainly crucial to future data storage and programmable logic device applications.
