Origin of winemaking in France

Chemical evidence, combined with archaeological data, suggests that the winemaking industry in France may have been fueled by imported wine from the Etruria region of Italy as early as 525 B.C., according to a study. French winemaking and the country’s association with fine wine have long held global fascination, but little is known about how and when the domesticated Eurasian grape and winemaking arrived in France.
