The chytrid fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd), a deadly pathogen implicated in catastrophic amphibian declines worldwide, can also infect crayfish, a study finds. Bd has generally been considered to be amphibian-specific, but the pathogen can persist in the environment in the absence of amphibian hosts.
