A novel metal-free photocatalyst - sulfur/graphene (S/GR) composite - has been synthesized using a facile hydrothermal method with thiosulfate and graphene oxide as precursors and L-ascorbic acid as reductant. The obtained catalysts were tested on the photocatalytic decomposition of methyl orange (MO). Compared to pure α-S, the as-prepared S/GR composite showed better hydrophilicity, adsorption capacity, and photocatalytic activity for the degradation of MO under both UV and solar light.
